You can't make this up. I have had enough!!!
Another day, another blog... the last few days have been hell for our community. Where do I start?
Well I got off work yesterday...3/1/17 at 4:30 PM and on the way home, I am heading toward the south side of town just pass the county line. There are a few hotels, motels and restaurants. As I get closer to a particular hotel I noticed there must have been 30 police cars, several news agencies, fire and EMS. I was on face time with my husband as I am everyday. We are chatting about what I am seeing.Traffic stops so I flip my phone around to show him whats going on. He is in law enforcement and I figured he could tell me. Nope, he was already home and relaxing on the couch with my dog. Traffic was still at almost a stand still as you can imagine. Everyone had to stop and look at all of the pretty lights. My husband tells me he is getting a call from a buddy of his and gets off the phone. While waiting for my husband to call back I decide to look up whats going on on Facebook. Guess what? I figured out what was going on before my husband did. Yep, Facebook has up to the minute news information. Around 4:00 PM a deputy sheriff was shot while serving a warrant at a local hotel. The initial report was a city police officer but the correction came out and I instantly knew one way or the other, I knew him. It didn't take long before the phone lines start blowing up and the gossip had begun. The only thing we knew for sure was a brother in blue had been shot and there was a standoff at the hotel with the suspect. I will post a link with the full story for you to read. This blogg is not intended to tell every detail of a police shooting but it just happens to be the first of a chain of horrible events recently. The deputy is expected to make a full recovery and we pray for our friend and brother that every thing works out and he experiences a full recovery. Get well soon!!! Thank you for your service to our community!!!
Next, the most horrible event thus far.... there was a high school student volunteering at the elementary school, he was in the gym, there was an accident. The young man was taken to the hospital and he passed away at the young age of 18. How in the hell does this happen? Why does this happen? I cant even begin to imagine the horrible pain his parents are feeling right now. The students at the elementary school, the high school..... I am at a loss for words. My heart aches for this family. I just can't even imagine.... Please keep them in your prayers!!! I will be posting benefit information as soon as it becomes available. RIP my friend.
Our community has seen its fair share of tragedy just as any other. The solidarity we show between local communities is tight nit, I am proud to be a part of it. I am proud to have served my community as law enforcement and a nurse. Families and communities go through good times and bad. But we always make it through better and stronger There are good, kindhearted people all across the this great nation and the world. We experienced this first hand when people from all over the world came to help rebuild after the tornado. We owe each and everyone of them a lot more then we can ever repay. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, donations and time. We will never forget and we will never forget you.
I came across this article of a major explosion that happened 50 years ago. I am posting the link for this article below. I think this is very well written and very interesting.Just another incident in our community.

At this time there is no fund for the high schooler who passed away. This just happened today and I expect the information will be out tomorrow sometime.
